A link between these two events seems to me probable.

Indeed, despite the trajectories that are perpendicular, it seems possible that the two events may be interdependent.

Such temporal coincidence is probably not the result of chance.

explanations:

The Russian's fireball was probably a small satellite of the asteroid 2012 DA 14 (it is not uncommon that an asteroid has a satellite).

the asteroid IDA has a small satellite called Dactyl who was discovered in August 1993 by the Galileo probe.

If the orbit of the satellite lies in a plane perpendicular to the trajectory of the asteroid 2012 DA 14, then the entry into the atmosphere of this satellite will not have the same orientation as direct percussion by asteroid 2012 DA 14.

In addition, if the plane of the orbit of the satellite is oblique to the trajectory of the asteroid (not strictly perpendicular) then the entering in the Earth's atmosphere can be made according to any angle.

The characteristics of the orbit of the satellite are not known with precision.

They depend on several interacting factors: the major axis of the orbit, its inclination relative to the trajectory of the asteroid 2012 DA 14, the shape of its orbit more or less elliptical orbit and disturbances due to proximity the earth and the moon.

However, with a good calculation software, it is certain that an astronomer can calculate at least one orbit that corresponds to reentry into the Earth's atmosphere according to the angle and position observed in Russia.

As for me, I just make a diagram explaining the film this event.

It seems to me important to consider this hypothesis, because if it were true, it would encourage researchers to examine the vicinity of near-Earth asteroids with more attention and devote more resources to the search for satellites, although tiny but potentially dangerous to the earth.
